Baker County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Mar. 17.
A domestic dog was killed by wolves earlier this week in the Halfway Valley. The owner noticed that his dog appeared in distress and upon examination realized that it had sustained puncture marks along with swelling in the neck area. He reached out to a veterinarian, who recommended the dog be euthanized due to the severe injuries. Employees from ODFW examined the dog and determined that it suffered multiple injuries which were consistent with a wolf attack. According to ODFW, the depredation is attributed to the Cornucopia Pack.
BCSO would like to warn the public of the wolf activity on the valley floor. Please be vigilant and monitor you livestock and domestic animals. Report any wolf sightings to ODFW or the Baker County Sheriff's Office.
