Community Justice Center Update

We are pleased to announce that we have a Community Justice Center update!

Jail Commander Lieutenant Roxane Worley and Lieutenant Lucas McLain attended the Harney County School Board District #3 meeting on August 9, 2022, to address our previously submitted proposal for site redevelopment of the Lincoln School property. The School Board unanimously accepted the proposal.

Having the property will allow us to move forward with grants, including one currently being developed with the help of High Desert Partnership for the asbestos and lead paint removal.

What happens next?

• Closing of the property sale and transfer of deed.

• Asbestos and lead paint removal from the Lincoln School as determined through the EPA Brownsfield Coalition Assessment Grant contractor Cardno.

• Development of blueprints with Strollo Architects.

We appreciate all the input, questions, concerns, and support that we’ve received since bringing our project to you. We plan to continue to keep you updated on the process. If you’d like to get involved through the community workgroup, please contact Lt. Worley at 541-573-6156.
