Umatilla County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on May 5.
Umatilla County Sheriff's Office has an opening for a Civil Deputy Process Server. The Civil Deputy Sheriff is a sworn Commissioned Limited Duty Deputy Sheriff position within the Sheriff's Office. They are responsible for service of civil process and subpoenas as well as enforcement of civil orders in accordance with requirements of state law, Constitution of the United States and department policy and procedure. What does this mean? It means they spend the majority of their time in a vehicle driving all over the county, serving court documents, including subpoenas, restraining orders, evictions and small claims. They also coordinate assistance with patrol deputies to enforce evictions, restraining order move outs and other enforcement actions. The person must be good with dealing with all types of people in stressful situations. They must be able to develop excellent working relationships with law enforcment officers, the district attorney's office, the courts and the public.
