UMATILLA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Suspect Arrested in Murder Investigation for Shooting in Milton-Freewater

Umatilla County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Mar. 7. 

On March 5th, 2022, at approximately 12:10 am, Umatilla County Sheriff's Dispatch center received multiple 911 calls regarding shots fired at a residence in the 84000 black of Yellow Jacket Rd., Milton Freewater, Oregon. Initial reports indicated two persons had been shot. Umatilla County Sheriff's Office Deputies, together with Oregon State Police and Milton Freewater Police responded to the scene. 

The investigation on scene showed, prior to law enforcement arrival, persons at the residence left and transported a gunshot victim to St. Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington. Jason Samuel WARNER, an 18-year-old from Milton-Freewater, had been shot multiple times. Witnesses reported Jason WARNER had been shot by another male, after an altercation during the party at the residence. Walla Walla Police Department and Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office responded to St. Mary’s Hospital. Jason WARNER was pronounced deceased at St. Mary’s Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.  

Early in the investigation, a single suspect was identified as Manuel Adam PERALEZ Jr, a 19-year-old from Walla Walla, Washington. 

On Sunday, March 6th, 2022, Manual Adam PERALEZ walked into the Milton-Freewater Police Department. Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office was notified and working in cooperation with Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office, Milton Freewater Police Department, Walla Walla Police Department, Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office, and Pasco Police Department, they were able to establish probable cause for the arrest. Manual PERALEZ was arrested for Murder II and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton. 

The investigation remains on-going.
